MAY 13th, 10pm!
Eli James at The Sidewalk Cafe.
I will be racing down to the gig from my other gig, which involves being an understudy, which is only fun when you go on.
Which means that this concert will automatically be the more fun gig, 'cause I will go on and on and on, but not too long.
ELI JAMES
Tuesday May 13th, 10pm SHARP!
The Sidewalk Cafe
94 Avenue A (corner of 6th Street)

I will be playing a bunch of songs I wrote throughout the mid 00's. Kind of shocking to me that the mid-00's are pretty much at an end, and so are the late 00's.
Let's ponder that together... Would love to see you...
ELI is an INDOOR BOY AGAIN!
Sidewalk Cafe - Wed Jan 30th - 11pm. [Sidewalk Website]
The Sidewalk Cafe's site has listed me as Eli and the Indoor Boys. Oh man - the memories. Gosh, that was a really great bunch of boys I thoroughly mistreated.
Makes me wanna sing, play, and reminisce over the early to mid 00's.

EXCLUSIVE SHOW IN CHINATOWN
Friday July 13th @ 169 BAR [Club Site]
Dare I say it's been a while? Well, it has. Eli James, formerly of the great, spastic Eli and the Indoor Boys will be dusting off his poorly hydrated and rarely oiled Martin acoustic to play the songs that made him famous in that one girl's apartment. That weird one with the pink glasses who won't stop emailing him. Come out and see her too. She'll be there, count on it.
169 East Broadway at Rutgers St., Chinatown
$10. Take F train to East Broadway.

I'm as shocked as you. My first-ever essay was published this fall by Random House. It's in a collection called Twentysomething Essays by Twentysomething Writers: The Best New Voices of 2006.
My piece is called "Finding the Beat."
Here's where you can get it:
www.randomhouse.com/rhpg/20by20
The essay's about my time as the leader of an indie rock band in New York and the eighteen-hundred drummers that waltzed in and out of my lineup. It's good for a laugh. I entered it in Random House's national contest and it was picked out from over 2,000 submissions.
I've had to change some words at the instruction of the legal department at Random House, who are afraid the people I describe will recognize themselves and say: "Hey! I'm not an alcoholic!" or "Wait a second! I'm not retarded!" So I took out the word alcoholic wherever it appeared, and reluctantly changed my description of some drummers' chromosomal deficiencies, and changed some names more than I'd already changed them.
I'm turning the essay into a full-length memoir - called INDOOR BOY.
